The last time you asked someone what they did, or what their company did, were you blown away with their response?

Did you want to hear more?

Or were you confused, uninterested and frankly just ready to talk with anyone else?

Now let me flip this question.

If I were to ask you what you did or what your company does, how would you answer?

And what about others throughout your organization?

Would everyone answer the same way?

Or, would everyone just wing it and give different answers?

If this answer doesn’t roll off your tongue the same way every time, you’re preventing growth and killing your business!

We’ve all heard the expression – “elevator pitch” and if you don’t have one, you absolutely need to create one – because you are losing new business opportunities anytime your response creates confusion and doesn’t create interest.

The “so what do you do?” question is the most common Ice Breaker in so many social and business occasions.

But your answer needs to be a de-icer.

If you don’t have a standard answer for this question, you have to spend some time creating an answer that clear, concise and compelling.

It needs is crisp, to the point, and most importantly, it needs to make we want to hear more.

Your answer is an opportunity to tee up a Next Level conversation, like

“Oh hey, that’s interesting, you know what, we were just discussing the other day how we needed help doing… “X”. Here’s my number. Give me a call tomorrow so I can connect you with… I’m really glad I met you!”

So, what I’m talking about here is creating CLARITY.

And If you want your business to grow you have to have CLARITY!

Clarity about who you are as a business or brand.

Clarity about what is it that you do, and why do you exist?

Clarity about who your ideal customer is.

Clarity about how you help your customers.

Why do I need you?

How do you help me?

How do you make my life better?

What do I have to do, to do business with you?

If you don’t clearly articulate these things you can bet you are losing business to a competitor who does.

If you spend some time really getting crisp and crystal clear on all of these answers you will be amazed at how many new opportunities your business will have.
